April Showers You With Rock And/Or Roll (three big shows this month)

April shows
Friday, 4/12: Strong Style Coffee (Fitchburg, MA)
Saturday, 4/20: Extravaganja, Three County Fairgrounds, Northampton, MA (2:15pm set)
Saturday, 4/27: Bread Euphoria, Williamsburg, MA (solo show)

Hi all,

Hope you are well and enjoying the warmer and longer days.

The band and myself have had some great shows and we are so lucky to have you on board as fans. Thanks for coming out when you could and for marking your calendar for events that are coming up.

I’ll try and keep this quick as everybody is busy, busy, busy and that goes for me too. 🙂

This Friday, 4/12, Colorway will make a return trip to Fitchburg’s Strong Style Coffee for a no-cover (tips encouraged), all ages show beginning at 8pm. The band will do two sets of tunes for you all in a veritable “Evening With” style. It’s an intimate and very cool place so get there early if you want to grab a seat. SSC has food, craft beer, soda, and, of course, some very strong style coffee. They are really doing a great job showcasing original music from all around New England and we are happy to be returning. Join the Facebook Event page here if you like.

Saturday–4/20–we are thrilled to be part of this year’s Extravaganja at the Three County Fairgrounds in Northampton. This will be the first event since recreational cannabis became a thing last winter and a first appearance for us. It’s only $5 to get in but you do need a ticket in advance. Click here to purchase. Colorway will play 2:45-3:15 followed by Shokazoba at 3:30 (Riley and Matt are in that band so make sure to check them out). There are bands all day on two stages from noon until six. Check out the details below to see the full lineup or click on the link above.

And finally, on Saturday, April 27, I’ll be playing a solo show at Bread Euphoria in Williamsburg, MA (just down the road from Florence/Northampton). BE is a fantastic place to come, grab a table, order a pizza (gf options), a sandwich, salad, coffee, tea, beer or wine and enjoy two hours of music in a listening room setting. The new-ish music space in the back is a great environment to get lost in story and song. I hope you’ll join me for this special night. FB event is right over here. It’s a no-cover event but tips are encouraged.

Well, that’s about it. Although February and March were light on shows (by design) we did have a great time opening for the Yardbirds last month. If you want to check out a video of “The Cycle” from that show then follow this here linky.

We have some great shows slated through the summer. Check out our tour dates page for all the up-to-date info.

Thanks, as always, for being part of our family of music lovers. We can’t (and would want to) do this without you.

See you at the shows!

Happy New Year! Bring On The Rock And/Or Roll.

Hi All,

Happy New Year to you!

To those who are reading this I hope that this one is off to a good start. This part of the year is tough for a lot of folks (including myself at times). But music can connect us and heal us and bring good things about. That’s why we do what we do.

The band certainly had a wonderful 2018 as a band and want to thank those of you who came to a show, picked up our newest album “These Are The Days” or streamed it somewhere out there in the universe. If you did, we hope you liked what you heard. And if you really liked what you heard we hope you’ll share us with a friend or two. So thanks again for being part of the Colorway crew. It means the world to us.

We have four shows this month that we’re really excited about and they are all completely free!!

Tonight, Thursday 1/3 we will be in Brattleboro, Vermont at the always enjoyable (and delicious) Whetstone Station. We will play a two-hour set (no break) beginning at 8:30. There will be incredible food available all night as well as their own handcrafted beer and plenty of NA options as well. It’s cozy, warm and easy to find.

Tomorrow night, Friday, January 4, we will be making our maiden voyage to Fitchburg, Mass to play at a wonderful new and intimate venue, Strong Style Coffee. We will be the first of two trios on this bill. Following our set at 8pm will be Fitchburg’s own Warren Niles Potts and his band, Toboggan. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Niles’s music and we are all really looking forward to it. The show is free with a $5 suggested donation. There is food, beer, wine and, of course, strong style coffee available all night.

If anyone reading this has friends in the North Central Mass area that might enjoy what we do we would love it if you’d forward this email or post link so they can come check us out. We’d love to make SSC a regular tour stop.

Turning to the end of the month will see us playing at two of our very favorite places to play in the Commonwealth.

Friday, January 25 we will be at Luthier’s Co-op in Easthampton, MA on Cottage St. The night kicks off with a solo set by the estimable Ray Mason at 7pm followed by Colorway at 8 and we’ll play until 9:30. This show is free, as always.

Saturday, January 26 we head east to TOAD Cambridge in Porter Square for a good ol’ hour and forty five minute set in one of the Boston area’s longest-running and best venues for live music.

So throw these in your iCal or your Cal-cal or just put ’em on a Post-it Note and stick it on the fridge. The year is young and there’s already so much fun to be had.

That said, we’ll be taking February off for the most part (I’ll be playing solo show at Fort Hill Brewery from 5-7 on 2/15) but as for band stuff that’s gonna be it until March so we really hope you can come to one of these shows and say hi.

Speaking of March, the third month of this year is certainly looking up, with some special shows in the books (can you say Yardbirds-redux?). You can check out all the details on our tour dates page right here.

I’ve been posting some short snippets on our Instagram page and our Facebook page. So if you don’t follow us there you may miss them.

That’s pretty much it, gang. Just rocking and rolling in the new year for now. Doing this thing that we do and striving to make a connection.

We thank you for being part of what we do and want you to know that we couldn’t and wouldn’t do it without your support.

See you at the shows!

Three for free this weekend!

Hi All,

Happy darker days to you!

I know it sounds weird, but darker days come longer nights and longer nights are made for music–lots of music.

I want to say hi and welcome to the new fans we made this past run of shows in October. Thanks for coming out to the Old 78 Farm Fest and to the Hyland Orchard Pavilion. You all made that weekend special for us. You can see some great pics of us from the farm fest taken by Jen Wytenus of Wyteneye Media right here. She has a ton of albums on her page of all the other bands that performed that day and night. Check them out while you’re there.

Colorway has three fun shows in store for this weekend beginning with tonight,Thursday, at Whetstone Station in Brattleboro, VT. This is our go-to venue in Southern Vermont and we always have a great time there. We will play one long set from 8:30-10:30 and–just like the rest of the shows this month–it’s absolutely free!

There’s great food on the menu and awesome craft beer (it’s a brewery, too) at the bar.

Friday, November 9 we will head back to our favorite place to play in Northwest Connecticut–The Stomping Ground in Putnam, CT. The owner, Terry, has created a loving and supportive environment for music six night a week! So come on out and grab some food from their kitchen (we are all partial to the gigantic and delicious Cobb Salad) and check out a full night of Colorway starting at 8pm.

Saturday closes out our run of our only shows this month. If you’re in the Boston area come on out to TOAD Cambridge for a nice and early show from the band. We will play straight from 7:30-9:45. We have really settled into a nice groove at TOAD and every show (we’ve played there several times now) has been fun and exciting. The fully stocked bar and the food available from next door’s Christopher’s Restaurant will keep you sated and the band will keep your ears happy, we promise.

Finally for November, I’ll be playing a solo show at Fort Hill Brewery in Easthampton next Friday, November 16 from 5-7pm. The new music room and accompanying PA is really special and, so I’m told, they have some of the best craft beer in the area which is really saying something.

That’s pretty much it. If you can make it to any of these shows that’s wonderful. If you can’t but have some friends in any of the areas we’re playing who might enjoy it please forward this email along. We can’t do this without the fans so thank you for being part of this thing we do called music.

For those in the US we hope you have a great Thanksgiving and we will see you in December for a few special shows. Check out all the details on everything coming up right here!

See you at the shows!

Independent Music Award winner and Colorway guitarist, F Alex Johnson is back at one of the most unique places to see live music in the area: Fort Hill Brewery in Easthampton, Mass. On Saturday, April 14 at 3pm come see Alex perform two full sets of songs from his twenty-seven years of making music in the valley on the stage of Fort Hill’s new music room.

Since it’s inception in 2014 Fort Hill has carved out a niche for themselves hosting local legends like Ray Mason, Bruce Korona and Wildcat O’Halloran on a regular basis early and free (and all ages) every week. Alex has become a bit of a staple at the brewery over the past two years where he is fond of imbibing some of the nation’s top rated tap water while playing to both beer aficionados and the under 21 crowd alike.

Fort Hill Brewery is one of the areas best new places for fresh, craft beer made on premises.

From their website: Our goal is to provide the Pioneer Valley with the best traditional German-style lager for a clean, refreshing taste you’ll always come back to. All of our beers follow the German purity law of Reinheitsgebot, meaning that our beers contain only four ingredients: water, malt, hops, and yeast.

Not to mention they are the #2 thing to do in Easthampton according to Trip Advisor.
