Food Trucks, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Stevie Ray Vaughan! So Much Music!

Hi all,

Just a quick update on this next few days worth of shows.

Today, Saturday, August 19, I’ll be doing a solo set from 1:30-3pm at Look Park in Florence for the 1st Annual Look Park Food Truck Festival.

More info below and here.  in their Facebook event page. Scott Lawson Pomeroy plays a solo set noon to 1pm and after me it’s Galvanizer, a great band featuring John CabĂĄn on guitar, Donny Hayward on drums and the esteemed drumming of J.J. O’Connell.

There will be food trucks from all over the region for your eating pleasure. It’s free to get in, though there is a $9 park entry fee. If you bike or walk in it’s absolutely gratis. Hope to see you there.

Later today (Saturday) you can catch Colorway perform a set at the Calvin Theater in Northampton at 8pm (sharp) opening for the amazing blues rock guitarist, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band. Kenny’s main axe is a 1961 Fender Stratocaster that he got as a teen. Guess who else got a 1961 Stratocaster as a teen and will be bringing it down to play today? That’s right, me. 🙂 So come on out and catch the band on the big stage with the big sound. It’s gonna be awesome, I promise.

Tickets are still available for this show by going here.

Tomorrow, Sunday, 8/20 I’ll be heading to central mass to the town of Fiskdale (Sturbridge) to play a duo show with Scott Hall at the Homefield Kitchen and Brewery. We call ourselves Two Man Guy. I play guitar and Scotty plays piano. We both sing but neither of us dance. Come on out, have some great food and beer and/or soft drinks and chill with the both of us.

Finally, to close out an amazing August, Transperformance 27 is upon us this coming Tuesday, August 22.

Come on out and celebrate the unofficial (early) crescendo of summer with over twenty bands transperforming as dearly departed rockers in Transperformance 27: Rock and Roll Heaven Revisited.

I’ll be playing in four acts this year. I’m on early with Dan Daniels as Guy Clark. Then around 8pm I’ll be joining the Winterpills as they salute Sir George Harrison. Following that I’m in with Scott Lawson Pomeroy/Zip Cody as he tackles the rock and roll giant, Ronnie James Dio. Finally, Colorway will be breaking out the boogie woogie and shaking off the blues as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. The amazing keyboardist, Jon Carroll and saxophonist, Chris Gentes will be joining the band for this special 10 minute set.

You can read more about all these shows below.

Thanks for being part of our world. We can’t wait to make music for you. The world needs it now more than ever.

Rock on,

~FAJ

What is Transperformance?
For 26 years Transperformance has been entertaining crowds of thousands while raising money for arts enrichment programs in Northampton public schools. Every year the event is held on a Tuesday in late August and sells out the Pines Theater at Look Park in Florence.

The original concept for Transperformance was for local bands to take on a persona of another established nationally recognized act and perform or “Transperform” their bands’ style. The acts that are chosen are done thematically, such as Transperformance 22 “Food Groups” (Heather Maloney as Amy Winehouse) or Transperformance 24 “Off the Map” (Colorway as Boston) or Transperformance 23 “Beyond Bob” (Rusty Belle as Bob Dylan).

This year Alex will dust off the 1961 Strat and flip that pickup switch way up to the neck position as he and Colorway take on Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.

Alex will also be playing with Dan Daniels as Guy Clark and Zip Cody as Ronnie James Dio. All times TBA
